First Steps Toward My Goal
Just like toddlers, we must first learn to walk before we can run. We must first sound out syllables before we learn to speak. And wow I sure do feel like I’m learning to walk and talk again!
For some context, I am not tech saavy. I am a nurse. And I am starting a blog. If you have ended up here, well let me start off by saying, I’m sorry. There are probably some things on my website that don’t work properly. Or maybe look a little weird on your mobile device? Give me time is all I ask. I’m learning to walk here!! Don’t count me out though. If you have wandered here and I don’t have many posts, come back to visit me soon! I’ll get there π
For a little background on me… I am a millennial who grew up in downstate Illinois. I come from a blue collar background and strongly believe in working hard to earn what I have. I also believe we should all strive to contribute positively to society. So if you don’t have anything nice to say, do us all a favor and keep it to yourself βΊοΈ. I work full time hours, and have no shortage of overtime hours as well, which means I may not post every day, but I will try to put content out a couple times a week. My day job is great! I am a cardiac stress testing and cardiac rehab nurse! I have a background in med-surg. I also worked as a CNA for four years prior to getting my RN and then subsequent BSN.
I am married and we have a dog. She’s an Australian shepherd named Bell (yes we know the common spelling is Belle). She’s named after an anime character and not the princess. She is the light of my and my husband’s eyes π. So along with both of us working full time plus hours, she requires a lot of exercise and a majority of our time is spent fulfilling her high energy needs. In general I am a big lover of all animals. I used to be a strict cat only person, but Bell has widened my worldview a bit. I enjoy cooking and baking when I have time. My husband and I love movies, some of my favorites are Forrest Gump and Ready Player One. I am the type of person who can watch a movie and/or TV show numerous times and not get tired of it. On that note, I think I’ve watched Schitt’s Creek five times all the way through, it is my favorite show. My husband’s favorite hobby is exercising, so we are at the gym usually 6 days out of the week and we eat relatively healthy as well. I love hiking and also enjoy writing as well, although I’ve never put anything I’ve ever written on the internet before, so this should be interesting.
So.. now you know a little about me…
Why are you doing this? You may be asking… or not and that’s cool too. I’ve had this nagging feeling for a few years now that I am not making a very big difference in peoples’ health. I’ve tried to ignore it, because I already feel very busy, but I am not satisfied in only helping people once they get to the point of going to the doctor, getting tests ordered, having intervention done, and then being referred to my cardiac rehab classes. I want to try to catch people before they start having problems. Who knows? Maybe prevent problems from ever happening? If I can motivate just ONE PERSON to change their lifestyle and improve their health……. I WILL NOT BE SATISFIED. Lol, seriously, I want to help people… multiple! Not just one.
So stick around! Let’s see where this goes. Honestly, it has to only get better from here.
